What are we thinking as we read Speak?
Objective: Students will sustain focus and monitor their thoughts as they read.
1. Word of the Day #23: bastion
2. Language Lab #19 (Copy the rule and list of FANBOYS words from the first page. Then pick 3 sentence pairs from the second page to combine using these words.)
3. We watched a video clip of a spoken word poetry performance and then completed WN #25.
4. We individually finished reading the second part of Speak and recording our thoughts on an "inner voice" sheet.
5. In pairs, we discussed our reactions to selected sections from our reading.
6. We continued reading Speak independently, beginning the third part.
For next time: No homework.
