Focus: What is synthesis? How do we begin?
Objective: Students will evaluate the relationship between ideas and organize them into weighted categories.

5. We used 3 steps to begin our synthesis of sources in the Pokémon packet.
- Step 1: Inventory. Create a T-chart of benefits & harms. On each side of the chart, list categories of benefit or harm. Tally how many times examples from each category are mentioned.
- Step 2: Weigh and Evaluate. Determine which evidence is most weighty. Is Pokémon Go more beneficial or harmful? Choose a side and rank the top three categories of supporting evidence.
- Step 3: Organize. Create an outline for three paragraphs that support your position. Indicate the topic of each paragraph and choose what source material you could use as evidence.
