Focus: How can I clearly explain an idea in writing?
Objective: Students will write a well-developed analysis paragraph.

2. Independent reading and reading log.
3. Advisory conferences.
4. We voted on a student claim to develop into a paragraph. Then together we developed a paragraph that supported the claim by using this TEXT paragraph structure:

7. We each began writing an analysis paragraph about the product packaging we analyzed last class period. Here is an example paragraph.

- T = topic sentence (1st sentence to introduce topic and state your main idea)
- E = evidence (what accepted facts support the main idea?)
- X = explanation (how does the evidence connect to the main idea?)
- repeat E & X as much as needed
- T = tie-up (final sentence to reinforce the main idea)
