Objective: Students will use details from a story to explain its theme.
1. Independent reading & reading log.
2. We discussed how to write a strong theme statement and revised the themes we wrote last time.
3. We learned how to use the TEXT format (T=topic sentence, E=evidence, X=explanation, T=tie-back) to write a literary analysis paragraph explaining a theme.
4. Working individually or in pairs, we wrote literary analysis paragraphs about "Through the Tunnel" and checked them off with Mrs. Craft.
