How does exposition set up the focus of a story?
Objective: Students will analyze how variations in the choice of details included and emphasized in versions of a story create different expectations & meanings.
1. We completed vocabulary cards for reproach and contiguous.
2. We previewed our focus for Term 4 and checked out copies of The Great Gatsby.
3. We watched three different film adaptations of the dinner party scene from the opening chapter of The Great Gatsby and completed Part 1 of these movie scene critique questions. (To make up absent work, watch the first two versions: here from 3:30 to end, and here from 2:55 to 8:25.)
4. We met with our presentation groups to take care of final planning.
For next time: Read Chapter 1 of The Great Gatsby and complete Part 2 of movie scene critique questions.
