How do our literary texts connect to various cultural movements?
Objective: Students will compose a well-developed paragraph explaining how a literary text shows a feature of a literary movement.
1. We took vocabulary quiz #3
2. We spent a few minutes working on our vocabulary cards.
3. We reviewed the TEXT format for academic paragraphs (T = topic sentence; E = evidence ; X = explanation ; T = tie-back).
4. In small groups, we picked 3-4 characteristics of our assigned literary movement that we felt was well-represented by our assigned literary piece.
5. Each group then split into pairs, and each pair wrote a paragraph in TEXT format that supported a claim about how their literary piece represented the literary movement by focusing on a specific characteristic.
6. We reassembled into larger groups, and each group assigned group members to complete one of the discussion preparation sheets for next time.
