Activity 1: Writer's Notebook entry #45 (10-15 minutes)
Activity 2: Personal Narrative Draft (30-40 minutes)
By now, you should have written a few short sections of your story -- both those written today and the quickwrite from last time. Now it's time to put them together and add the rest of the story. Use the rest of the class period to work on a rough draft of your personal narrative story. You should have the draft ready to be checked off next class period.
- Read these two paragraphs about the same baseball game. In your notebook, compare them: What is the difference? Which do you prefer?
- When reading stories, most readers prefer writing that "shows" an event rather than writing that merely tells about the event. Here are three techniques to show instead of tell.
