What can we do to prepare for a good second semester?
Objective: Students will 1) make reflective goals and 2) create "book pitches" that summarize the most appealing features of a book.
1. We cleaned out and updated our writer's notebooks and binders.
2. On page 83 of our writer's notebook, we each completed a status report to help us be reflective about our efforts and goals as students.
3. We updated our reading challenge log and set a reading goal for Term 3.
4. WN #29: We each created a short book pitch for a book we could recommend to others, providing a "teaser" summary of the book and explaining why we would recommend it.
5. We each shared our book pitches with a series of partners (speed dating style) and kept track of the other books we learned about in our notebooks.
6. We visited the library to look for new books to read.
For next time: Find your next in-class reading book.
