How does the resolution of conflicts in stories create messages?
Objective: Students will Interpret the story implications of different resolutions to a conflict.
1. Writer's Notebook #39
2. We discussed how conflicts and their resolutions provide the message of a story by comparing two versions of "The Little Red Hen."
3. In small groups, we created three alternate versions of fairy tales and identified what message was shown by each of our versions.
4. We read independently for 20 minutes and and completed a reading log.
5. With our book groups, we identified a conflict in our book's story and brainstormed three possible outcomes of the conflict, identifying how each outcome would impact the overall theme of the story.
For next time: No homework.
