How does annotation help clarify and record our thoughts as we read?
Objective: Students will identify and practice different purposes for reading and strategies for annotation..
1. Starter: Vocab list #1
2. We were each assigned a perspective to take when reading "The House" and asked to pick out details we found important. In small groups, we made a list of the top 5 details from each perspective. We then compared the lists produced by different groups. We discussed how our purpose for reading influences the details and passages that are important to us.
3. We were introduced to the skill of annotation and practiced annotating an article for different purposes.
4. Exit slip: Turn in your annotated article.
For next time: no homework
